Life at my court was extravagant and wonderful. Every few months we moved to a new palace. This was necessary because of poor sanitation and general build-up of dirt. But moving around all the time was often fun too. Nobles came from all over the country to be at court. If I liked them they could take an office such as “Clerk of the Wardrobe”. Women who came could get the chance of becoming one of my maids of honour. These women would attend to me at formal events and be my friends. Or at least they would pretend to be my friend. If a woman served me well by not getting married without my permission and not getting pregnant, I would reward them by arranging marriage for them with a rich man. Fashion at court and throughout the realm revolved around my clothing. Nobody could ever come close to the craftsmanship of my clothing. The dresses I wore were all very expensive. There was also wonderful entertainment at court. I hosted balls, masques, plays and jousting tournaments. Everything at court was always the most exquisite possible.
